This fall, visitors to Carkeek Park have witnessed a historic chum salmon run, providing a rare chance to observe nature’s resilience right in the heart of Seattle. In a single day this November, over 1,500 live chum salmon were counted—more than the total recorded during an entire spawning season since annual counts began in 1987. We recently visited the park to witness this incredible event alongside curious visitors.
