Chino Y Chicano
Facing race in AmericaAbout Chino Y Chicano
Chino y Chicano is a podcast with a mission to dish on the good, the bad, and the ugly of what people of color face in America. Hosted by veteran journalist Enrique Cerna, the show features guests who explore the complexities of race. Take a listen to the episodes here.
The Chino y Chicano podcast launched in 2022 with co-hosts Matt Chan, “The Chino,” and Enrique Cerna, “The Chicano.” Both spent their careers in television. Chan created the cable series "Hoarders," while Cerna worked as a Seattle broadcast journalist for 43 years. After Chan died on March 30, 2024, following a battle with kidney cancer, Cerna committed to continuing the podcast in his honor.
On this special edition of Chino y Chicano, Música con Sabor (“Music with Flavor”), Enrique Cerna welcomes tenor and Encanto Arts founder José Iñiguez. From working in the fields of Central Washington to performing opera and beloved boleros on stage, José’s path has been anything but conventional. He shares the story behind his remarkable journey, performs selections that showcase his powerful voice, and discusses his mission to make the performing arts accessible to underserved communities.
