Has mounting homelessness and massive growth brought Seattle to its boiling point? The business community and City Hall are at odds over how to ease the city's housing-affordability crisis. Marilyn Strickland, Seattle Chamber of Commerce CEO, and Seattle City Councilmember M. Lorena González join host Joni Balter to discuss who should pay for the cost of growth and how to channel the surge in civic discontent.

Then, we'll talk transportation and the future of mobility in our region. With the Move Seattle levy facing funding shortfalls, where will the city scale back? Will cost overruns kill the streetcar? Is Seattle prepared to navigate the "period of maximum constraint" on traffic? Panelists TBA.

From leading to reading, four of the women of the Seattle City Council and librarian extraordinaire Nancy Pearl weigh in at Civic Cocktail with host Joni Balter. What are the impacts of a female majority council? How do men and women differ when it comes to lawmaking? Then Book Lust host Nancy Pearl reveals the most common question asked of librarians, how she finds the time to consume so many books, the physical "risks" of reading (double tennis elbow!), and a little bit about the novel she's writing!
