Chino Y Chicano
Facing race in AmericaAbout Chino Y Chicano
Chino y Chicano is a podcast with a mission to dish on the good, the bad, and the ugly of what people of color face in America. Hosted by veteran journalist Enrique Cerna, the show features guests who explore the complexities of race. Take a listen to the episodes here.
The Chino y Chicano podcast launched in 2022 with co-hosts Matt Chan, “The Chino,” and Enrique Cerna, “The Chicano.” Both spent their careers in television. Chan created the cable series "Hoarders," while Cerna worked as a Seattle broadcast journalist for 43 years. After Chan died on March 30, 2024, following a battle with kidney cancer, Cerna committed to continuing the podcast in his honor.
Mental health struggles often remain hidden behind successful careers and everyday life. In this episode, Enrique Cerna talks with two longtime friends and journalists Roberta Romero and Randy Eng for an honest conversation about depression, anxiety, grief, therapy, and the courage it takes to ask for help. Together, they explore why breaking the stigma around mental illness matters—and remind us that no one has to face these challenges alone.
