Washington was the first state to pass anti-human trafficking laws, but the criminal trade is a growing problem. The shocking reality is for every case of sex trafficking, there are nine cases of labor trafficking. What are authorities doing to crack down on the crime? What steps can anyone can take to help identify and eradicate trafficking? Several survivors share their harrowing experiences and their efforts to make a difference. Our in-studio guests include former state legislator Velma Veloria, who helped pass the 2003 legislation; Assistant U.S. Attorney Kate Crisham, who is also the regional human trafficking coordinator for the U.S. Department of Justice; Hao Nguyen, anti-human trafficking program coordinator of API Chaya; and Yasmin Christopher, a trafficked survivor and community activist.
