January 1979. The Heats give their first public performance in the gymnasium of Sequim High School. Less than two years later, the power-pop foursome—Kenny Deans, Keith Lilly, Steve Pearson, and Don Short—was tearing up the local club scene, opening for The Knack and Heart, with their single “I Don’t Like Your Face” climbing the Billboard charts. By New Year’s Eve 1983, The Heats called it quits, playing their final show at Belltown’s legendary Astor Park. But the spark never really went out. In fall 2026, Kenny, Keith, and Steve—joined by guitarist Jon Memolo—cranked it back up for this high-octane concert at Tacoma’s Spanish Ballroom.
