In early 2016, Seattle's Office of Arts & Culture, in partnership with the Seattle Department of Transportation, restarted an artist-in-residence program from the northwest tower of the Fremont Bridge. The assignment was to write an "in-depth exploration of the historic bridge's role and meaning for the city of Seattle." Seattle author Elissa Washuta spent three months in the summer of 2016 as the writer-in-residence at the Fremont Bridge, creating work from probably the most unique writing office in the city.
