It's Seattle's only street that flows continuously from salt water to fresh water. For decades, Madison Street has been a workhorse, carrying thousands of vehicles each day. But it also carried horses! Early on it was a popular horse trail. Later, cable cars shared the road. And ferry boats docked at the foot of Madison along Lake Washington.
