Our guest teaches performance at a Seattle school and hosts Lulu Nation, a radio show for queer and trans people of color. Lulu Carpenter says part of performing is being bold, but when something frightening happened to her, she realized just how much she asks of her students and others. Carpenter tells host Eric Liu about that trauma, and how hard she had to push herself to turn that experience into a performance of power.
