We remember Matt Chan, longtime television executive/producer/editor and community activist who lost his battle with kidney cancer on March 30, 2024, at the age of 71. Chan co-hosted the podcast Chino Y Chicano with his best friend, veteran journalist Enrique Cerna. Cerna offers heartfelt thoughts about his friend and mentions some of Chan’s many accomplishments.

Chan also volunteered his storytelling skills to create campaign videos for candidates of color. They include State Senator Joe Nguyen, King County Councilmember Girmay Zahilay, Seattle City Councilmember Tanya Woo, and Port of Seattle Commissioners Sam Cho, Toshiko Hasegawa, and Hamdi Mohamed.
