Seattle Mayor Jenny A. Durkan announced Wednesday, March 28, 2018, the launch of the Seattle Rental Housing Assistance Pilot Program, which will serve households on the verge of homelessness. Durkan also introduced a new website where Seattle residents can access nearly 100 free and discounted resources and benefits that the City provides to all eligible Seattle residents, ranging from free internet hotspots and tax preparation advice to the Utility Discount Program, which saves residential households money on their bills. Currently, there are approximately 77,000 eligible households in Seattle who are not yet enrolled in the UDP.
