City of Seattle leaders celebrate opening a new bike connection along Elliott Bay
City of Seattle leaders celebrate opening a new bike connection along Elliott Bay
8/1/202524:15

The City of Seattle and its partners celebrated the completion of the Alaskan Way Safety Project. The new protected bike lane is part of a broader effort to make public transit along the Waterfront, and throughout Seattle, more reliable, efficient, and equitable. This new connection along Alaskan Way closes a 0.6 mile gap between Virginia and Broad streets, an effort to provide a continuous bike ride through Elliott Bay. The seamless route allows riders to safely move between neighborhoods, Elliott Bay Trail, and the waterfront. The Alaskan Way Safety Project also marks the first of several exciting new bike lane celebrations planned this summer.

Speakers:
Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell
Adiam Emery, Interim Director, Seattle Department of Transportation
Fred Felleman, Port of Seattle Commissioner
Lee Lambert, Executive Director, Cascade Bicycle Club
