Tanya Kim is sworn in as director of Seattle Human Services Department (HSD). Kim was appointed as acting director of HSD in 2021 and confirmed by Seattle City Council in April 2023. Prior to her appointment, she served as deputy director and in multiple leadership roles in both HSD and for Seattle City Council. Before joining the City, she worked at community-based organizations in both direct service and executive-level positions.

The Seattle Human Services Department (HSD) connects people with resources and services. HSD administers hundreds of contracts for human services and stewards the City’s safety net investments to communities in need with an emphasis on BIPOC populations.
