Mayor Jenny A. Durkan, Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) Director Sam Zimbabwe, and Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Director Barb Graff holds a winter weather preparedness press conference to ensure residents are prepared to navigate the potential impacts of any winter event. Following last year's historic snowstorm, the City did a thorough winter weather review to prepare Seattle even better for potential future storms.
Seattle residents can get ready now by signing up for emergency alerts, assembling preparedness kits for their households, and planning for backup resources in the event of a power outage. The City also stresses the importance of the Shared Shovel campaign to help ensure sidewalks stay safe and accessible, especially for our neighbors with disabilities. And, as always, residents are encouraged to check in on their neighbors to make sure we all stay safe and warm in the event of a storm. The City will also detail its preparations to ensure there is minimal disruption to essential City services in the event of a storm.
