"We’re living through the Enshittocene, the Great Enshittening, a time in which the services that matter to us, that we rely on, are turning into giant piles of shit."

Seattle Public Library, Clarion West, and Third Place Books presented a conversation with science-fiction author, journalist, and activist Cory Doctorow about his new book, "Enshittification: Why Everything Suddenly Got Worse and What to Do About It," in conversation with Ed Zitron (Better Offline) and moderator Whitney Beltrán. Tracing the rapid decline of user experience online and showing how tech companies downgrade quality to maximize profit, Enshittification calls for a return to the initial promise of the Internet.

Speakers:
Cory Doctorow, science-fiction author, activist, and journalist
Ed Zitron, CEO of EZPR
Whitney Beltrán, award-winning narrative designer and writer for video games
