Gülgün Kayim was officially sworn in today as director of Seattle's Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS) after beginning the role in July of 2023. Kayim is a multidisciplinary artist with decades of experience in public art administration who formerly served as the founding director of the Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She says her passion truly lies in the integration of art into other sectors "to impact how we live our lives and solve our problems." At the event she said "The arts should be a part of how we care for our elders, educate our children, develop our policies, work with vulnerable communities, reuse our unused spaces, and activate our public places."
