Historically, each spring, as the buds bloom and the days grow longer, mighty runs of herring would also fill local waters. But, in recent decades, herring runs have dropped off significantly. Now there are indications the herring are returning, which may be a sign that the entire marine ecosystem is improving. Producer David Albright hits the water to see why experts are optimistic. And he speaks to a local diver who encourages residents to become citizen observers to help keep an eye out for herring spawning events.
