The excitement of post season baseball returned to Seattle as the Mariners shattered a 21-year playoff drought. And the timing couldn’t be better for a new establishment that honors Seattle’s long forgotten baseball glory. Steelheads Alley is part of the eagerly anticipated Hatback Bar and Grille, across from T-Mobile Park. The space celebrates the Seattle Steelheads who were part of the first professional Black baseball league on the West Coast. But that’s only the start. Steelheads Alley includes many pieces from the past, highlighting the Japanese community as well as Hispanic and Indigenous ball players. Brian Callanan explains.
