Pacific Fishermen Shipyard has been a mainstay in Ballard for more than 70 years. And even though the company has evolved from a boat builder to mostly doing maintenance and repair, it's managed to stay afloat. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for many of its neighbors. But the shipyard won't let them be forgotten. Just inside the main gate, you're greeted by an array of old signs from Ballard businesses. From Zesto's to Yankee Grill, Crown Hill Hardware to Viking Tavern, the businesses have closed, but fond memories remain thanks to the shipyard's refusal to let them fade away.
