This year marks the 100^th anniversary of the passage of the 19^th Amendment, granting women the constitutional right to vote. Here in Washington, the right to vote was given to women a decade earlier. One of Washington's leading suffrage leaders was Katherine Smith, an Alki resident, who would continue her work as a suffragist in other states and at the national level.
