The Alaskan Way Viaduct has snaked along Seattle's waterfront for six decades. Yes, it was noisy, gray and dangerous, but many drivers liked its easy access; and everyone loved the views. Even critics are nostalgic and sad to see it go. Also, we'll backtrack a century and learn why it was imperative to build the roadway. A roadway one man has experienced up close and personal daily.
