Book Lust with Nancy Pearl featuring Melinda Gates

Philanthropist, author, and self-proclaimed lover of stories Melinda Gates believes the key to societal health is investing in girls and women. She joined host Nancy Pearl at the opening of the 2019 American Library Association's Midwinter meeting on Jan. 25 in Seattle to discuss her new book, "The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World." The book serves as a gathering of women's movements around the globe, leaders Gates admires, and personal stories that demonstrate the effect of women's empowerment on community. She calls readers and listeners to action and lends advice on which strategies yield the greatest effects on societal health.
