UW research heartens autism community abroad and at home

Researchers from the UW Autism Center made quite an impression during a recent visit to China, where they presented a study disputing previous claims that a bilingual home has a negative effect on autistic children. That was a huge relief to a Seattle mom and native of China. She had heard the claims before but trusted her gut and taught her autistic son both Chinese and English. Today, he's thriving. The findings have the autism community encouraged the research will lead to a better understanding of the disorder.
