Seattle Mayor Jenny A. Durkan delivers remarks at the first meeting of her 25 member Police Chief Search Committee, which will assist in a national search process to find the best candidates for Seattle's next police chief.

The Police Chief Search Committee is comprised of a broad range of community leaders, including many with extensive and unique experience in criminal justice reform and policing. The search for a new Chief will include an extensive community outreach process in the upcoming weeks and will seek to identify a leader who will successfully continue police reforms and garner public confidence. After conducting interviews with applicants, the Search Committee will submit their recommendations to Mayor Durkan later this Spring.
