Seattle International Film Festival 2008 - Opening Night 5/23/2008
The Seattle International Film Festival (www.siff.net) kicked off with a big 'ol gala extravaganza on Thursday, May 22nd, and Nancy Guppy and Robert Horton were on hand to capture all the opening night glitz! They hobnob with the glamorous people, including Charlize Theron, star of SIFF's opening night film "Battle in Seattle" (www.battleinseattlemovie.com). They introduce you to interesting local filmmakers and run an excellent movie trailer of the great films screening at this years festival. And, best of all, they mingle with all of you before the movie, and afterwards, at the post-show soiree!
A Tribute to Anthony Hopkins - SIFF Lifetime Achievement Award 7/8/2007
Sir Anthony Hopkins is presented with the SIFF Lifetime Achievement Award during a special tribute evening on May 30, 2007 at the Egyptian Theatre. The event includes an onstage interview, film clips and a question and answer session from the audience. Anthony Hopkins is one of the most versatile, subtle and commanding actors of our time. Mastering the mediums of stage, film and television, in his four decades on screen, Hopkins has won countless awards (among them the Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA, NYFCC and Emmy), and deservedly been nominated for as many again. His illustrious career has provided a series of riveting, astonishingly vivid portrayals.
Reel Short Movies: Episode 9 6/23/2007
The SEATTLE CHANNEL presents a special broadcast of winning films from the 2007 edition of the Seattle Times' annual Three-Minute Masterpiece digital filmmaking contest--featuring comedy, drama, live-action and animation. The Seattle Times, Seattle Film Institute and Seattle International Film Festival asked readers to submit homemade DVDs of anything suitable for a family audience running three minutes or less. The winners were selected from among more than 100 entries.

Join Nancy Guppy as she talks with Nicole Malarkey, co-director/co-producer of "Sentenced Home", a documentary film that puts a personal face on the devastating consequences of the U.S. deportation policy.

"The Heart of the Game" is the exciting new Seattle-based documentary focusing on Roosevelt High's girl's basketball team, the Rough Riders. The film has generated a huge amount of buzz and is scoring big with crowds and critics. Nancy Guppy is on location for the film's hometown premiere and interviews the film's director, Ward Serrill, Rough Rider coach Bill Resler, and former player Darnellia Russell.

Join Nancy Guppy as she talks with Andrew Walton, director of "Arctic Son", a documentary that chronicles the coming together of a father and son who haven't seen one another for 20 years.
SIFF 2006: Super Fly Films on the Reservation 6/13/2006
Youth from around the country participated in SIFF's first-ever Super Fly Filmmaking workshop. Through a partnership with Longhouse Media, thirty-five student filmmakers gathered at the Swinomish Reservation for 36 hours of on-the-fly cinema production. Working from a short script by Sherman Alexie, with help from Longhouse Media's Native Lens youth filmmaking producers and other Northwest filmmakers, four groups interpreted the story. Shot and edited in less than twenty four hours, the films were then screened at SIFF's FutureWave.

Ticket buyers sign an Oath of Silence, and vow never to divulge the clandestine contents of the films they see, which might be world premieres, long-lost gems or films tied up in legal battles. But festival big-wigs never counted on hard-hitting, investigative adversary Nancy Guppy, Seattle Channel host, who vows to break this code of silence wide open.
