Meadowbrook View Apartment Volunteer Day 9/11/2009 President Obama has proclaimed September 11 the first-ever, federally recognized, National Day of Service and Remembrance. To honor the day, Former Mayor Nickels and others spent the morning bringing green spaces to the Meadowbrook View Apartments, a project operated by the Low Income Housing Institute. The thousands of volunteers expected to participate in projects across the city will help achieve Nickels' goal of recruiting 10,000 new volunteers this year.
