City Inside/Out investigates the recent wastewater disaster near Discovery Park
City Inside/Out: Wastewater Woes
3/31/201729:29

POLL: Are you optimistic the West Point Wastewater Treatment plant will be fully operational by April 30, 2017?

Millions of gallons of raw sewage and untreated runoff poured into the Puget Sound when the West Point Wastewater Treatment Plant malfunctioned in February. Now, the sewage treatment plant - Washington state's largest - is only partially treating dirty water before discharging it into the sound. What went wrong? What's being done to fix this environmental disaster? Will taxpayers see a big rate hike? Will clear answers come from the catastrophic event?

On the show:
Reuven Carlyle, State Senator (D-36th)
David Kelly, Engineer, CH2M
Jeanne Kohl-Wells, King County Council
Christie True, King County Dept. of Natural Resources & Parks
Robert Waddle, Manager, King County Wastewater Operations
