Mayor Ed Murray signed an Executive Order affirming protections for transgender residents. He was joined by members of the transgender and gender-diverse community, along with the Seattle Police Department (SPD), which recently launched a new training for officers on how to interact with the transgender community.

Additionally, Mayor Murray signed legislation establishing the foundation for a building market that values energy efficiency, and setting minimum expectations around efficient operations. The legislation establishes public transparency of building energy performance data and phases in a periodic tune-up requirement for commercial buildings to optimize energy and water efficiency.
