Seattle Channel wins prestigious national award SEATTLE The Seattle Channel was honored this week with the prestigious Excellence in Government Programming Award from the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA). This is the second year in a row the Seattle Channel has received this award. These awards recognize the important work being done by the Seattle Channel, providing our residents with timely, accurate and often entertaining information about their government and their communities, said Mayor Greg Nickels. The channels Web site www.seattlechannel.org also won first place honors for Best Government Access Website. The Seattle Channel also won 17 NATOA awards and honorable mentions for its variety of news, arts and community programs. Winners included City Inside/Out with CR Douglas, Art Zone In Studio with Nancy Guppy, CityStream, Seattle News Now with Megan Erb and Community Stories. This years winners demonstrate excellence in local government agency programming and have truly raised the bar for not only meeting but exceeding community needs, said NATOA President Doris Boris. We congratulate these members for their innovation and commitment to quality programming and are thrilled to honor and celebrate their achievements. NATOA honors excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. This year, NATOA received more than 1,200 entries submitted by local governments in more than 30 states across the country and Canada. The Seattle Channel offers all programs in an online video archive, allowing free, 24-hour access to all content via the Internet, as well as podcasts of select programs.
