COUNCIL EXPECTED TO PASS RESOLUTION OPPOSING I-892
SEATTLE -The Seattle City Council is expected to pass a Resolution expressing opposition to Initiative 892, which allows non-tribal gambling establishments to operate, "electronic scratch ticket machines" and use revenues from these machines to reduce state property taxes. All members of the Seattle City Council have sponsored this Resolution. The vote will take place at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 18, 2004. Before the vote, Councilmembers invite the public to express their views in council chambers at the meeting next Monday. The time allotted to members of the public will be at least equal to the time that City Councilmembers expect to speak in support of the Resolution. Speakers will be drawn from the sign-up list in the order in which they sign up until the time allotted to members of the public is exhausted. Note that not all members of the public who sign up are guaranteed an opportunity to speak. Seattle City Council meetings take place in City Hall between Cherry and James Streets on 5th Avenue downtown.
