Seattle Parks and Recreation Hosts Celebration for Renovation at Roanoke Street Mini Park

Seattle Parks and Recreation invites the community to celebrate the renovation of the Roanoke Street Mini Park.  Please come join us on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Fairview Ave E and E Roanoke St.  This is a great opportunity to see the beautiful waterfront location and see how the Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop Master Plan is moving forward. The event will feature music by Pasquale Santos and some light appetizers generously provided by Blue Ribbon Cooking & Culinary Center.

The waterfront park now provides a way-side respite for visitors and residents alike and an enhanced public gathering space. The project was generated with the support of the Eastlake Community Council (ECC).  Parks moved the project forward in cooperation with the Seattle Department of Transportation. The architecture firm, Perkins+Will donated the design services. Perkins+Will, community members and the Eastlake Social Club saw the project to completion.

The purpose of the Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop is to enable citizens and visitors to enjoy the character and history of the neighborhoods that surround Lake Union, and to enjoy a unique recreational experience.  The Roanoke Street End is an important stopping point on the loop.  Boeing assembled its first plane at this site in 1916.
