What was Seattle like before the arrival of the Denny Party?
Town Square: On the Eve of the White Arrival
4/4/201859:19

David Buerge, noted scholar of Native history in Seattle, and longtime books editor Mary Ann Gwinn, discuss what the region that would become Seattle would have been like in 1850, before the arrival of the Denny Party. Buerge, author of the acclaimed new book, "Chief Seattle and the Town that Took his Name," will take the audience on an amazing trip back to the civilization that was soon to be challenged and uprooted. What appeared to white settlers to be a primitive wilderness was in fact a fully settled and populated land. Part of the "Authors at the Athenaeum" series at Folio: The Seattle Athenaeum.
