About City Inside/Out
Seattle is a vibrant and complex city, and the Seattle Channel's City Inside/Out with Brian Callanan brings you thoughtful, in-depth reports and discussions about important local issues every week.
Brian Callanan is a 18-year veteran of broadcast journalism -- all in the Pacific Northwest. From 2000-2011, Callanan was a reporter and anchor for Q13 FOX News. Over his career, Callanan has won an Emmy and has earned several other awards from the Society for Professional Journalists and the National Press Photographer's Association. He's the host of the Seattle Channel's award-winning public affairs programs: City Inside/Out, City Inside/Out: Council Edition and Ask the Mayor
Seattle will roll out a voter-approved pilot preschool program this fall. It will cost property owners $54 million over four years. The program aims to narrow the opportunity and achievement gap by ensuring students start kindergarten ready to learn. Supporters say teachers will benefit as well. How will city leaders select preschools and 3- and 4-year-old students to participate in the program? What's the application process? What are the measures of success? We examine the Seattle Preschool Program and its steep learning curve.
