Brian Callanan is a five-time Emmy winner who currently serves as a host, producer, and moderator for the Seattle Channel, where he's worked since 2011. His career in broadcast journalism began in 1995, and includes an 11-year stint as a reporter and anchor for Q13 News. Brian won the Seattle Municipal League's Civic Award for Government News Reporting in 2016. He lives with his wife and two daughters in West Seattle.
Program manager and neighborhood activist Zachary Pullin DeWolf faces attorney and former high school teacher Omar Vasquez in a race to fill an open seat on the Seattle School Board in the citywide vote for District 5. The two millennials promise to bring a fresh perspective and ethnic diversity to the board. DeWolf, who led in the August primary, says his work on youth homelessness and affordable housing issues makes him the best candidate, while Vasquez says his teaching and finance background give him the edge.
