City Inside/Out: Rideshare Referendum
City Inside/Out: Rideshare Referendum
5/2/201427:33

Referendum petitions have stalled Seattle`s new ride-service rules, further escalating the debate over regulating taxi, mobile-app and for-hire companies. Should rideshare services such as Uber, Lyft and Sidecar be more heavily regulated? What about capping the number of cars they operate in the city? Should the city offer more cab licenses? We hear from John Zimmer, co-founder of Lyft; Eastside for Hire driver Sam Guled; Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes and Seattle City Councilmember Tom Rasmussen. Our studio panel includes Tommy Key, general manager of Puget Sound Dispatch; Dawn Gearhart of the Western Washington Taxicab Operators Association; Lyft driver Daniel Sibbett; and Bill Lucia, who covers politics and government for Crosscut.com.
