Our in-studio painting is entilted Jingotopia, by artist Deborah Lawrence. Deborah Lawrence uses collage and paint to create beautiful and complex work. Her new word and picture book, Dee Dee Does Utopia, is a brilliant, original, and thoughtful response to the Bush administration and the Iraq war.

Robert Horton celebrates the 100th birthday of James Stewart by talking about a new DVD box set of Westerns and how the actor's image was changed by his partnership with director Anthony Mann; plus, two tips on Seattle International Film Festival movies: Werner Herzog's Encounters at the End of the World (May 31, 7 p.m., Uptown, and June 4, 4:30 p.m., Egyptian), and Song Sung Blue (June 2, 7 p.m., Egyptian).
Seattle Repertory Theatre presents: "The Patriot Acts! An Equal Opportunity Political Cabaret" on June 1st and 2nd. This night of good-natured lampoonery, which benefits the Rep's education programs, features original material from Cheryl West and and Eduardo Machado, and a who's who of local talent, including Nick Garrison, Anne Allgood, David Pichette, Todd Jefferson Moore, Charles Leggett, and Congressman Jim McDermott!

The Phinney Neighborhood Community Chorus, a 75-person choir who sing folk music from around the world in the original languages, presents their free Haiti concert on June 8th at 7:30 pm, at the Woodland Park United Methodist Church. All donations from this magical evening will go to Lekole Pa Nou, the Haitian school that has been supported by this wonderful choir since 2004. Check out the 2008 University of Washington's Master of Fine Arts Thesis exhibition, featuring excellent work from 19 outstanding UW grads, running now thru June 15th at the Henry Art Gallery.
